UnBEARable!
In search of ice on which to stand, an Alaskan polar bear swam 426 miles in the Beaufort Sea—without stopping—before finding ice on which to climb. The swim took almost ten days.
It’s both an amazing story and an alarming one.

Sunday alcohol sales bill filed in Georgia Senate →

Not that this would pass in the teeny tiny town where I currently live (over 40 churches in a town of about 15,000), but YES!
Do you know the agony of getting all excited about Sunday football and then realizing in an awful way that you ran out of beer and now you can’t buy any? And while in most GA counties you are able to purchase alcohol in a restaurant, Houston...
Smileys!
A very interesting article in the New York Times today about the science behind smiling. Read more.
Dr. Niedenthal argues, people recognize smiles by mimicking them. When a smiling person locks eyes with another person, the viewer unknowingly mimics a smile as well. In their new paper, Dr. Niedenthal and her colleagues point to a number of studies indicating that this imitation activates many of...

3D is an inferior movie going experience and apparently the big guys agree with me. Go here to read the full article.
3D films remind the audience that they are in a certain “perspective” relationship to the image. It is almost a Brechtian trick. Whereas if the film story has really gripped an audience they are “in” the picture in a kind of dreamlike...
isnteverything asked: Ooh, I would love a cupcake! That looks delicious! I live pretty close to the Baxter Street Bookstore, and could probably pick one up so you wouldn't have to deliver to some girl you've never met.

I wish I had a mini-fridge by my bed so that I could induldge in some ice cold water without the inconvenience of moving. My throat is killing me and I don’t know why. I have been having these kind of hot/cold flashes all week and then tonight after I got home my throat started to kill me so I took some meds and have been trying to fall asleep but can’t. Ugh.

Fun With Auditioning Children
chriskelly:
Today at work, a five year old boy came in to audition for us.
He was tiny, had blonde hair, and was wearing a leather jacket. Halfway through the audition, his cell phone rang. He stopped, pulled out an iPhone 4, and said verbatim, “Oh god, it’s Bryan Mendoza. I’ve gotta take this.”
And then he left and never came back.

…wasn’t even close to good. It was the same story but somehow nothing made sense and the entire lighting scheme was complete torture. What kind of serious television show makes a complete series in white light? It looks like their night party scenes are shot at 2 oclock in the afternoon. So weird. This is devastating
